Known as "Jus Blue," this spectacular custom street rod is a professionally built, extensively modified showpiece that has earned national recognition for its exceptional craftsmanship, innovative engineering, and attention to detail.
Among its many accomplishments, this Roadster Pickup was awarded 1st Place in the Altered Roadster Pickup class at the prestigious 50th Grand National Roadster Show in 1999, where it also placed among the Top 8 contenders for America's Most Beautiful Roadster! Additional honors include the highly regarded Doane Spencer Award of Excellence for outstanding fabrication and detail, multiple Goodguys awards, and numerous magazine features.
This isn't your average Model A hot rod. Virtually every aspect of this truck has been custom fabricated, modified, or refined to create a truly unique vehicle.
Under the hood sits a custom-built 355 cubic-inch Chevrolet V8, professionally machined and assembled by Jerry Dorman Racing Engines. The engine features ported and polished cylinder heads, Manley stainless steel valves, roller rockers, a Lunati camshaft, Edelbrock Torker II intake, Holley 4-barrel carburetor, complete MSD ignition, and beautifully polished stainless steel headers. The engine block and heads were painstakingly ground smooth, with more than 100 hours of hand labor invested in the finishing process alone! Power is delivered through a built Turbo 350 automatic transmission equipped with a 2,400-RPM stall converter.
Beneath the beautifully crafted body is a hand-built tubular space-frame chassis, featuring an impressive combination of performance-oriented suspension components and show-quality detailing. Up front is a 4-inch dropped Super Bell tubular axle, custom stainless-steel suspension components, and Vega cross steering. The rear suspension utilizes a fully adjustable Jaguar independent rear suspension with Aldan adjustable shocks. Stopping power comes from Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes with polished aluminum calipers. The entire undercarriage has been meticulously finished in metallic silver and candy blue powder coating.
The exterior is finished in striking PPG two-stage Cessna Blue paint, giving the truck its fitting "Jus Blue" nickname. The extensively modified body features a custom three-piece hood lengthened two inches, a 1932 Ford grille shell with a custom horizontal-bar insert, a chopped windshield, handmade stainless headlight mounts, and numerous one-off fabricated components.
Out back, the custom-built pickup bed has been shortened four inches and features smooth sides, a custom tailgate with molded Ford emblem, frenched taillights, a recessed license plate, and beautifully crafted billet aluminum trim. Custom running boards, hidden mounting hardware, and an under-bed aluminum fuel tank further demonstrate the extraordinary attention to detail throughout the build.
Inside, the custom leather interior was crafted by Sewell's Upholstery and complements the beautifully detailed 1932-style dashboard. Features include custom gauge bezels with VDO instrumentation, one-off interior trim, a hidden glovebox, custom under-seat storage, and a Pioneer stereo system with amplifier and five speakers. Polished stainless hardware and custom-fabricated components can be found throughout the entire vehicle.
